This image depicts a close anterior view of a Filipino patient’s right upper arm, highlighting the presence of early skin lesions that were diagnosed as an early case of leprosy, or Hansen’s disease, caused by the Gram-positive bacterium, Mycobacterium leprae. These lesions were very difficult to see, being that they were very early in their evolution.
