Caption:
This photograph depicted a patient lying on a hospital gurney, while focusing on the man’s groin region. Note the presence of a left inguinal node swelling, referred to as lymphadenopathy, that had been caused by a case of lymphatic filariasis, a parasitic disease caused by mosquito-borne, thread-like filarial nematodes. These adult worms only live in the human lymphatic system, blocking the flow of lymph.
