This photograph depicted a medial view of a patient’s right arm, highlighting the lymphangitis that had resulted due to a case of lymphatic filariasis, a parasitic disease caused by mosquito-borne, thread-like filarial nematodes. These adult worms only live in the human lymphatic system, blocking the flow of lymph. Note the moderate swelling if this patient’s forearm, accentuated by the tightness of the overlying skin.
