This photomicrograph highlights the histopathologic appearance of a dilated lymphatic vessel. It what was thought to have been sampled tissue from the spermatic cord in a case of lymphatic filariasis (LF). LF is a parasitic disease caused by mosquito-borne, thread-like filarial nematodes. These adult worms only live in the human lymphatic system, blocking the flow of lymph.
