Caption:
This photograph depicts a right lateral view of a patient’s jaw and neck, highlighting an ulcerative submandibular lesion that had been diagnosed as a case of the fungal infection known as blastomycosis, caused by a fungal organism of the genus, Blastomyces. This image was captured after having begun an unidentified treatment, however, the original lesion (PHIL 27016) had exhibited morphology typical to that of blastomycosis, including an overall rough, warty or verrucous texture, bumpy periphery, and an ulcerated, or depressed central region.
