This photograph highlights some of the gross pathologic changes exhibited by a colonic tissue specimen that had been extracted from a patient who was ill with amebiasis. The intestine was cut longitudinally, enabling you to see the large intestine’s mucosal interior that had become ulcerated due to this amebic infection.
