This photograph features a close view of an excised section of intestine, and highlighted some of the gross pathologic changes exhibited by the mucosal lining. This specimen had been extracted from a patient, who was ill with a case of amebiasis. Looking at the intestinal mucosa, you are able to see the severe ulcerative, erythematous reaction, due to this amebic infection. See PHIL 27040 and 27047, for closer views of this specimen.
