This photograph features a close view of an excised section of intestine, in what appeared to be the ileocecal region, and highlighted some of the gross pathologic changes exhibited due to a case of amebiasis. Note that the serosal surface of the bowel had taken on a gray-brown coloration indicative of severe necrotic changes of the intestinal wall.
