Caption:
This photograph features a close interior view of an excised section of intestine, and highlights some of the gross pathologic changes exhibited by the mucosal lining. This specimen had been extracted from a patient, who was ill with a case of amebiasis. Looking closely at the intestinal mucosa, you are able to see the severe ulcerative, erythematous reaction, due to this amebic infection. See PHIL 27036 and 27047, for other views of this specimen.
