Caption:
This photograph shows a close view of an excised section of intestine and highlights the gross pathologic changes exhibited by the intestinal serosa. This specimen was obtained from a patient with amebiasis. From the exterior, gray-colored mural necrosis is visible as a consequence of ulcerations affecting the intestinal mucosa (see PHIL 27048), resulting from the amebic infection.
