Under low magnification (8X), this photomicrograph shows an unidentified hematoxylin-eosin (H&E)-stained tissue specimen harvested from a patient diagnosed with actinomycosis, caused by the bacterium Streptomyces somaliensis. A chronic inflammatory sulfur granule is visible within a microabscess.
