At a magnification of 54X, this photomicrograph shows an unidentified Gomori-stained tissue specimen harvested from a patient diagnosed with actinomycosis, caused by the bacterium Streptomyces somaliensis. A chronic inflammatory sulfur granule is visible within a microabscess.
