This image shows a close anterior view of a patient’s right eye, highlighting transient conjunctivitis associated with infection by Newcastle disease virus (NDV). Although primarily a pathogen of poultry, all strains of NDV can cause this type of transient conjunctivitis in humans. NDV is a member of the subfamily Avulavirinae.
