Caption:
This photomicrograph shows a Wright’s-stained peripheral blood specimen demonstrating a small chromatin appendage arising from the nucleus of a white blood cell (WBC), specifically a polymorphonuclear leukocyte (PMN), or segmented neutrophil. This finding does not represent true sex chromatin (Barr body), which is characteristically observed in females. Note the small chromatin projection at the end of the pointer.
