This photograph from 1962 depicted an anterior view of a patient’s lower legs and feet, demonstrating the atrophic changes that had manifested in the man’s right extremity, due a case of poliomyelitis, caused by the polio virus. See PHIL 27242, for a closer look at this patient’s right foot, and the deformity that had included hyperflexion of his toes.
