This scanning electron microscopic (SEM) image highlighted the method by which coliphages had attached themselves to the exterior cell wall of a grouping of unidentified coliform bacteria, which would subsequently lead to the destruction of these bacterial organisms . This scenario had played out over a 10-minute incubation period.
