Under a magnification of 450X, this photomicrograph of a fluorescent antibody (FA)-stained liver tissue sample was captured on the 3rd-day post-infection with the malarial parasite, Plasmodium cynomolgi, and demonstrates the presence of two sporozoites, each contained within their respective liver hepatocyte, during their exoerythrocytic stage of development, as they each transformed into a developing schizont.
