Under a magnification of 450X, this photomicrograph of a fluorescent antibody (FA)-stained liver tissue sample was captured 1-day post-infection with the malarial parasite, Plasmodium cynomolgi, and demonstrates the presence of a sporozoite that was contained within a liver hepatocyte., during its exoerythrocytic maturation, which would lead to the development of a mature schizont.
