McCloskey, Assistant Chief Health Officer, Victoria, Australia, and Miss Saavedra, believed to be María Esther Saavedra Yoacham (Miss Chile 1952). They are shown standing on the tarmac at Santiago Airport, Chile, beneath the fuselage of an airplane that had just delivered boxes of oral polio vaccine (OPV) during Chile’s polio epidemic, which began in October 1961.
