This photograph depicted a close right anterior-oblique (AO) view of a patient’s forehead, highlighting the appearance of a case of staphylococcal furunculosis, a deep cutaneous infection of the hair follicles, causing a painful erythematous boil, which contained pus, and dead tissue. The condition is usually due to the bacterium, Staphylococcus aureus.
