This image depicted a ventral view of a guinea pig’s thoracoabdominal region, which had been shaved. Divided into four quadrants, each quadrant was administered an intracutaneous inoculation of a different atypical, or nontuberculous acid-fast mycobacterial organism. Based on the Runyon classification system, the upper left quadrant received a photochromogenic Mycobacterium, the upper right quadrant received a scotochromogenic Mycobacterium, the lower left received a non- photochromogenic, or nonchromogenic Mycobacterium, and the lower right was administered an inoculum of Mycobacterium fortuitum bacteria. This is the resultant reactions to those inoculations.
