This image depicts a photomicrograph of a canine whipworm, Trichuris vulpis ovum, that has been extracted from a dog’s intestine. T. vulpis is a parasite that attaches itself to the canine large intestinal mucosa, by embedding its head into the mucosal lining, thereby, causing intestinal inflammation.
