Caption:
This image depicted the gross appearance of what was described as tuberculosis lesions, caused by the bacterium, Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The orientation appears to have been based on a sagittal cut down the spinal column, which can be seen on the far right. From this perspective, you are looking into the right thoracic and abdominal cavities, where the very large tuberculous lesion can be seen. The purpose of this image was to highlight the morphology exhibited by internal tuberculous lesions.
