Caption:
This photograph from 1958 highlighted several dead Montane voles, Microtus montanus, that had formed part of a colony in an alfalfa field, Medicago sativa, in Klamath County, Oregon. The mole infestation in the field was controlled using oats that had been treated with zinc phosphide. See PHIL 28295, for the appearance of the field that had been damaged by the mole colony burrows and runs.
