These two photomicrographs depicted a specimen containing the bacterium Salmonella typhi, that had been stained with S Typhi, H-labeled globulin. The photomicrograph on the left shows the appearance of the S. typhi organisms viewed with a UV filter in place, while on the right, which is the same microscopic view, reveals the organisms under visible light. With the UV filter in place (LT), you can better see the fluorescing flagella.
