These two photomicrographs depicted a specimen containing the bacterium Salmonella typhi, that had been stained with S Typhi, H-labeled globulin. The photomicrograph on the left shows the appearance of the S. typhi organisms viewed with a UV filter in place, while on the right, the same microscopic view shows how the organisms were viewed under visible light. With the UV filter in place (LT), you can see the fluorescing flagella.
