Under a magnification of 67X, this photomicrograph of a lung tissue sample revealed some of the histopathology due to the disease, coccidioidomycosis, caused by the fungal organism of the genus, Coccidioides. This was a case of purulent bronchopneumonia, and Coccidioides reproductive spherules could be seen disseminated throughout the section.
