Under a magnification of 480X, this photomicrograph of an unidentified periodic acid-Schiff (PAS)-stained tissue section highlighted the histopathologic changes due to the disease coccidioidomycosis, caused by a fungal organism of the genus, Coccidioides. This was a view inside a Coccidioides sp. nodule, enabling you to see hyphal filaments, and a number of reproductive spherules.
