Under a magnification of 4.5X, this was a photomicrograph of a Hematoxylin-Eosin (H&E)-stained pulmonary tissue section, which highlighted some of the histopathologic changes due to the disease coccidioidomycosis, caused by a fungal organism of the genus, Coccidioides. In this view, you can see the necrotic center of a Coccidioides sp. pulmonary nodule.
