Under a magnification of 600X, this was a photomicrograph of a guinea pig hair shaft that had been infected by the fungal organism, Microsporum vanbreuseghemii, designated specimen D.C.5.36. It highlighted some of the histopathologic changes that had manifested over an 11-day period.
