This frontal view of a Petri dish culture plate shows a large colony of the dermatophytic fungus Trichophyton mentagrophytes, cross-strain TM20 × TM17. The white colony displays a granular perimeter with an edge that feathers into the Sabouraud dextrose agar (SDA) growth medium. See PHIL 19597 for a reverse view of this colony.
