This image depicts a right anterior oblique (AO) view of a gross section obtained during the autopsy of a newborn who succumbed to a fatal case of listeriosis, highlighting numerous miliary nodules on the mucosa of the pharynx, esophagus, and tonsils caused by the Gram-positive bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. The image was donated by Prof. Dr. Heinz P. R. Seeliger, Germany.
