This photograph shows a close frontal view of a CDC Lombard-Dowell (LD) Presumpto Plate I quadrant plate, focusing on a quadrant containing LD egg yolk agar (EYA). This quadrant was inoculated with an unspecified anaerobic bacterium to assess lipase activity. A positive reaction is indicated by an iridescent, pearly sheen over and beyond the bacterial growth; here, a prominent sheen extends outward from the streak, consistent with a positive lipase reaction.
