Under a magnification of 3.5X, this image shows a close view of the surface of a blood agar culture plate (4% agar) inoculated with the bacterium Clostridium septicum. After a 48-hour incubation period, extensive spreading bacterial growth with irregular, feathery margins is visible across the agar surface.
