This historic 1961 photograph depicted polio vaccination campaign activities that were taking place at a Decatur, Georgia high school, where healthcare providers were handing out oral polio vaccine sugar cubes to young children, who were accompanied by their parents. Here, a young girl was in the process of ingesting a cube, while other children awaited their turn to do the same. One very young boy stared in amazement, watching the girl swallow the dissolving vaccine imbibed sugar.
