This historic 1961 photograph depicted polio vaccination campaign activities that were taking place at a Decatur, Georgia high school, where healthcare providers were handing out doses of oral polio vaccine (OPV) to young children, who were accompanied by their parents. This nurse was giving an infant one of the OPV doses, while the baby was cradled by his mother. Note how the baby’s two siblings looked on in amazement, as their brother was ingesting his vaccine.
