Under a magnification of 33 1/3X, this photomicrograph highlighted some of the ultrastructural morphology exhibited by the fungal organism, Trichophyton mentagrophytes. This was an ascocarp, or cleistothecium, containing numerous asci, each of which in turn, contained the organism’s reproductive cells known as ascospores.
