Under a magnification of 80X, this image from a slide preparation depicts a very close view of a mature cleistothecium produced by the fungal organism, Nannizzia vanbreuseghemii, formerly known as Microsporum vanbreuseghemii. Note the spiral shaped interwoven hyphae that compose the exterior peridial wall, as well as the elongated multicellular macroconidia outside the cleistothecium.
