Caption:
This photograph depicts a close frontal view of a Petri dish culture plate containing an unspecified growth medium. The upper half was inoculated with Kluyvera cryocrescens, and the lower half with K. ascorbata. Paper disks placed on the agar were impregnated with carbenicillin (100 mg) on the left and cephalothin (30 mg) on the right. Disks on the lower half contained the same antimicrobials. Note that the zones of inhibited growth surrounding these disks are considerably smaller in the K. ascorbata growth field.
