This image shows a close view of an erythematosquamous plaque on a chimpanzee. The lesion, identified as pinta and measuring approximately 4 × 6 cm, exhibits alopecia and an irregular border and developed following intradermal inoculation with material containing the bacterium Treponema carateum.
