Caption:
This left lateral cranial radiograph shows findings consistent with empty sella syndrome. In this condition, the sella turcica appears enlarged or partially empty due to flattening of the pituitary gland, which normally resides within this sphenoid bone depression beneath the cerebral hemispheres. Although typically best demonstrated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), these radiographic findings were determined in this case to be due to a familial congenital abnormality.
