Captured during a San Francisco, California plague field study, this image highlighted a site that was known to harbor rodents that could possible be carriers of the plague bacterium, Yersinia pestis. Note the rodent trap that had been placed in order to trap one of the rodents that would then be taken back to the laboratory to be analyzed.
