Caption:
Captured during a San Francisco, California plague field study, this image depicted two public health field technicians, who were crouched in a grassy field alongside rodent traps and a weight scale, in the process of weighing a captured rodent that would be later analyzed for the presence of the plague bacterium, Yersinia pestis. The ectoparasites of captured rodents were also tested for the presence of plague.
