Caption:
Under an undisclosed, though high magnification, this transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of a murine intestinal tissue sample, revealed some of the morphologic ultrastructural histopathology caused by the mouse hepatitis virus (MHV), a member of a group of coronaviruses that affect rodents. The tissue sample was harvested from one of the three mice depicted in PHIL 14637. See PHIL 29936, for a close view of the MHV, highlighting its ultrastructural morphology. MHV was formerly known as the lethal intestinal virus of infant mice (LIVIM).
