This historic image was captured in 1959 in Raphael, El Salvador, and depicted a bahareque-style, also spelled bajareque, dwelling with its mud-wood walls. The purpose of the image was to highlight the type of construction to which the insecticide malathion would be applied, in order to control mosquito populations in the region.
