This 1976 photograph was captured during an investigation of hepatitis at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, located in South Dakota. The viral disease was thought to have been spread from person to person at school, however, there was no major investigative breakthrough. These students were seated at their desks in a classroom as they completed assigned tasks during this learning period.
