This 1976 photograph was captured during an investigation of hepatitis at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, located in South Dakota. The viral disease was thought to have been spread from person to person at school, however, there was no major investigative breakthrough. Here we see a schoolboy walking to school on a wintery morning, bundled up to fight off what appeared to be the biting cold.
