This historic photograph, captured in 1975 during an epidemiologic investigation of an encephalitis outbreak in an unidentified location in North Dakota and western Minnesota, shows an aerial view of the surrounding terrain. Numerous floodwater pools have formed across the landscape, creating conditions that may support mosquito breeding. Details of the investigation findings are not available. The image was provided by Dr. John C. Harris of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Bureau of Epidemiology.
