This image consists of a photomicrographic montage of six panels showing viral pocks formed on the surface of chorioallantoic membranes (CAM) from embryonated hen eggs, each inoculated with Mpox virus and incubated for 72 hours at 35°C. Panel A shows Mpox virus (strain Utrecht); B, Mpox virus from a human infection (strain 362, Zaire); C, Mpox virus (strain Utrecht); D, Mpox virus from a human infection (strain 362, Zaire); E, Mpox virus (strain Utrecht); and F, Mpox virus from a human infection (strain 266, Sierra Leone). Note the morphologic similarities and differences among the viral pocks following incubation.
