This illustration shows key epidemiologic factors involved in the transmission of sporotrichosis, also known as “rose gardener’s disease.” Caused by fungi of the genus Sporothrix, infection can occur through cuts or abrasions sustained while handling plants, as illustrated by a thorn injury from a rosebush.
